Welcome to https://modernm1rifles.com

This site is dedicated to keeping these historic and interesting firearms functioning and usable into the 21st century with an emphasis on practical uses for recreation, hunting, and personal defense.

There were literally millions of “U.S. Rifle, Caliber . 30, M1” (Commonly referred to as the “M1”, “M1 Garand”, or simply “Garand) and “U.S. Carbine, Caliber .30, M1” (Commonly referred to as the “M1 Carbine”) manufactured and used by the US military and our allies. Many of these surplus rifles are now legally owned and enjoyed by shooters in America and -where civilian firearms ownership is legal- around the globe.

These pages attempt to gather together in one place the knowledge and many lessons I have accumulated and learned (sometimes the hard way!) during greater than 20 years of my own personal interest and exploration in these rifle systems.

I do not claim to be an expert but I am an expert learner and am always willing to add additional good information into the tool box! Much of this information is available elsewhere on the internet but I have yet to find it gathered in one place as a ready reference and depot of knowledge- hence welcome to modernm1rifles.com!

I hope you learn a great deal from these pages. Stay safe and have fun!
